Jan Bell

I live in Tauranga, I have three children who have long grown up, left home and live in Australia.

Once upon a time I was a legal executive,  for a while I was home with the family, then I began work in the Kiwifruit Industry.  I worked mainly in the quality and auditing field. I studied for a Post Grad Dip in quality systems.  At the moment I am a tutor, teaching Post Harvest Horticulture and quality control.

I was bought up on a dairy farm and love agriculture and horticulture, so in 1995 approximately I bought some land and started my own stud.  I like the challenge of always trying to improve the cattle both ascetically and to meet my customer’s demands which are for cattle with good structure, meat production, temperament and maternal ability. I am lucky my partner Graeme Daniel likes Charolais and used to be a dairy farmer.

The Charolais have become a way of life and a lot of time and focus is placed on improving the herd.

Both Graeme & I choose AI sires to improve or maintain desirable traits. We prefer French cattle, our Dams are predominantly from French lines, however because polled cattle are requested by our buyers we breed and use sires that will produce polled cattle. We will keep any Dam polled or horned who proves herself a good breeder and a good mother.
